Verizon First to Set Up Energy Efficiency
Standards for
Network, Data Center and Customer Equipment
To reduce its power consumption and energy costs and shrink its carbon footprint, Verizon has established its own energy reduction standards and an associated measurement process for new telecommunications-related equipment. The standards will be applied to certain broadband, video, data center, network, and customer premises equipment purchased after Jan. 1, 2009. Verizon's new Technical Purchasing Requirement for the Energy Efficiency of Telecommunications Equipment is available for download by clicking here VZ.TPR.9205. The program is being managed by Chuck Graff, Director-Corporate Network and Technology. He can be contacted at ludwig.c.graff@verizon.com.
